HTTP proxies and HTTPS destinations
An HTTP proxy can forward web requests and may use CONNECT to establish a tunnel to an HTTPS destination. TLS to the website and TLS between the client and proxy are separate connections.
A product called an “HTTPS proxy” may refer to HTTPS destination support or an encrypted connection to the proxy. Check the endpoint documentation before choosing a URL scheme.
What does SOCKS5 support?
SOCKS5 can serve applications beyond ordinary web requests when the client supports it. An HTTP proxy field cannot simply use a SOCKS5 port.
Capabilities in the SOCKS5 standard are not necessarily available in every service. In particular, verify UDP support separately; the label alone does not guarantee compatibility with every game or application.

Where is DNS resolved?
With curl, socks5h requests hostname resolution through the proxy; socks5 normally resolves the hostname locally. Other clients expose this distinction through their own settings.
When a hostname fails, identify which side resolves it before purchasing another IP address. A DNS configuration issue may have nothing to do with the outgoing address.

Do not upload your full credential list to an unknown online checker. Proxy credentials authenticate with the proxy, while a website login authenticates with the destination.
HTTP status 407 indicates a proxy authentication requirement or problem. Changing the destination account password will not fix a missing proxy password. The chosen proxy protocol does not by itself encrypt every application connection.

Check the application documentation, then test a single connection. Treat protocol, address and port as one set of matching settings.

Does SOCKS5 replace HTTPS?
No. SOCKS5 relays the connection; HTTPS provides TLS protection for the web connection. They serve different purposes.
Can an HTTP proxy open HTTPS websites?
It can if it supports the required CONNECT tunnel. This does not mean its own endpoint must use an https:// URL.
Does every SOCKS5 proxy support UDP?
No. Check the service and client capabilities explicitly before choosing a package for UDP traffic.
